Lakes has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Antioch Sequoits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Lakes came up short against Maine East and fell 50-37. That's two games in a row now that Lakes has lost by exactly 13 points.
Lakes' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylee Anderson, who scored 5 points along with 5 rebounds, and Jessica Ross who scored 13 points.
Even though Antioch has not done well against Grant Community recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Antioch took down Grant Community 44-29. 44 seems to be a good number for Antioch as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Antioch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Heidi Rathmann led the charge by scoring 14 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Rathmann has scored at least 25% of Antioch's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Volkmar, who scored 10 points.
Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Antioch, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Lakes have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Antioch, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 per game. Given Lakes' sizeable advantage in that area, Antioch will need to find a way to close that gap. Lakes couldn't quite finish off Antioch in their previous matchup back in January and fell 47-45. Can Lakes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
