Football Recap: Pilot Point Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Pilot Point extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 5-1. They strolled past the Palmer Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 44-28. This was payback for the Bearcats, who suffered a 43-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Pilot Point's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drevion James, who rushed for 140 yards and one TD on only five carries. James' longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Caden David, who rushed for 132 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pilot Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 486 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Palmer fell to 5-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as they came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Pilot Point is ranked 645th).

When it comes to explaining why Palmer lost, don't look at Eric Cisneros. Despite the final result, he rushed for 115 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 161 yards and a pair of TDs. The Bulldogs' leading receiver AJ Cisneros was Eric's top target yet again, picking up 91 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Pilot Point will take on A Plus Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmer, they will square off against Pottsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
