The Lely Trojans waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 53-48 win over LaBelle. This was payback for Lely, who suffered a 44-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lely to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sofiia Kiritsa, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Kaleah Estrada was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, LaBelle still got an impressive performance from Marissa Burchard, who scored 22 points along with four steals. Burchard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aariah Johnson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lely is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for LaBelle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Lely won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bonita Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Bonita Springs is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for LaBelle, they will head out on the road to challenge Clewiston at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clewiston is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
