Southwest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kyra Nelms, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Anastasia Gallegos who scored nine points along with five steals. Nelms is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Anikka Nelms was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Dundy County-Stratton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clara Spargo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Schneider, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Southwest's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.
Southwest will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Irish.
