Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Sierra Chieftains, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 34-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sierra in their matchups with Fresno Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Cunnings, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Aaron Irvine also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Fresno Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Stotts, who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Stotts was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Jude Sheppard was another key contributor, gaining 89 total yards and two touchdowns.
Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Fresno Christian, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Sierra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fresno Christian also has no future games currently scheduled.
