Sugar Creek has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Carolina International Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sugar Creek was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Mariners on Friday. Sugar Creek simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mariners 66-39 at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Sugar Creek had established a 21 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sugar Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jerry Kuttas, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Kuttas scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Terry Watson, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Carolina International had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Sugar Creek 50-47. Winning is a bit easier when you make six more threes than your opponent, as Carolina International did.
Carolina International's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Michael Davis, who scored 11 points, and Landon Griffin, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Salter, who scored two points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Sugar Creek's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Carolina International, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Sugar Creek hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.9 points per game. However, it's not like Carolina International struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Sugar Creek couldn't quite finish off the Comets when the teams last played on Wednesday and fell 50-47. Can Sugar Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
