Maize South faced Lansing in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mavericks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Lions. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Maize South had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-17, 26-24.
