Southeast Career Tech hasn't had much luck against Legacy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will be playing at home against the Legacy Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Southeast Career Tech is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Amplus Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Southeast Career Tech blew Amplus Academy out of the water with a 53-20 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Roadrunners had established a 28 point advantage.
Southeast Career Tech found their leader in sophomore Mila Vidacic, who went 6 for 15 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makensie Farthing, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.
Southeast Career Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Legacy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 56.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They took their match with ease, bagging an 80-13 win over the Firehawks. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Firehawks are ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Legacy's win came from a few key players Southeast Career Tech will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alabama Nieves, who went 12 of 19 on her way to 29 points in addition to six boards and five steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Laila Gines was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals.
Legacy's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.4 points per game. As for Southeast Career Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southeast Career Tech has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 29.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southeast Career Tech took a serious blow against Legacy when the teams last played back in January, falling 65-19. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nieves, who went 10 for 16 en route to 22 points along with six steals and five boards. Now that Southeast Career Tech knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
