Salmon River took down Garden Valley 54-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Savages made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 172 from 243. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 54-12 victory over the Wolverines last week.
Council's dynamic duo of Mick Wilson and Daniel Cameron proved tough for Wilder to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wilson threw for 273 yards and one touchdown and Cameron had 119 yards receiving. Nate Henderson helped Council's passing attack out by catching two balls for 68 yards.
David C Bengoa made the biggest impact on defense this week as Garden Valley fell to Salmon River. The junior racked up 2.5 sacks.
ALFONSO CASTELLANOS was the most productive running back in 1A Long Pin (8 Man) this week. He ran for 192 yards on 20 carries as the Wildcats lost to the Wildcats. JESUS ZAVALA also contributed to the rushing game with 159 yards on the ground.
Wilder's CASTELLANOS and CASEY DILLON have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. CASTELLANOS has thrown for 1010 yards this season, while DILLON, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 20 catches for 583 yards. Henderson from Council leads the league in rushing with 1423 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Horseshoe Bend takes on the Wolverines. At the moment, the Mustangs are in fifth, while Garden Valley is in first.
Kyle Dalsoglio's team led 1A Long Pin (8 Man) in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Dan Shumway's team. CASTELLANOS threw for 74 yards in the win.
