The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 59-37 defeat at the hands of Cooper City. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pompano Beach in their matchups with Cooper City: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Pompano Beach lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Berwig. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Berwig has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kerrick Wiggins, who scored eight points.
Pompano Beach now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Cooper City, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Pompano Beach will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Coral Springs Charter at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Coral Springs Charter is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. Cooper City will take on Cypress Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
