Marion had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Carbondale on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Terriers 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Marion has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carbondale, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Marion wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against Carmi-White County on the 10th. Carbondale has also already played their next game (against Anna-Jonesboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
