Baseball Recap: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Wins Going Away Against Chesapeake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McDonogh, Our Lady of Mount Carmel was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Chesapeake Bay Hawks as Our Lady of Mount Carmel made off with a 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Andy Molina-Sosa made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Molina-Sosa was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Ethyn Street looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Keith Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is undefeated when Smith posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lance Gregory, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Chesapeake will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will square off against rival Severn School at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th. Meanwhile, Chesapeake is set to face off against their familiar foe Woodlawn at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
