Basketball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jordan Samuel and Teryn Hobson

Lugoff-Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Philip Simmons Iron Horses.

Lugoff-Elgin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Teryn Hobson, who posted 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals, and Jordan Samuel, who had 14 points along with five boards and four steals. That's the most points Hobson has posted since back in December of 2023.

Lugoff-Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Philip Simmons, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-7.

Lugoff-Elgin will be taking part in a tournament against St. Johns Country Day at 12:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Johns Country Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. Philip Simmons and Carolina Forest will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carolina Forest will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Philip Simmons surely won't give up without a fight.
