Brookfield will be defending their home turf for the first time on Friday when they go up against Monroe City at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Brookfield, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Brookfield had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it last Friday as the team lost 6-7 to Palmyra. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Brookfield was outplayed in the second half.
Meanwhile, Monroe City was the big favorite in their most recent match, and for good reason. They were fully in charge last week, breezing past Centralia 38-0. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.
Monroe City's win lifted them to 1-0 while Brookfield's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Monroe City can add another positive mark to their record or if Brookfield can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Monroe City's step.
