Two dominant guards in Zach Story and Martin Soria are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Orland Trojans will be playing at home against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Orland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
On Friday, things could have been worse for Orland, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-50 loss to Gridley. While losing is never fun, Orland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 634th, while Gridley is ranked 299th).
Story put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 26 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Dominick Bose was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Las Plumas gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 70-45 margin over Oroville. Winning may never get old, but Las Plumas sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
It was another big night for T.J. Thompson, who scored 31 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Casmir Jones, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Orland's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Las Plumas, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Orland have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Las Plumas, though, as they've been averaging only 7.6 threes per game. Given Orland's sizeable advantage in that area, Las Plumas will need to find a way to close that gap.
Orland came up short against Las Plumas in their previous matchup last Friday, falling 58-45. Will Orland have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
