After flying high against the Centerville Bulldogs on Tuesday, the Martinsville Pirates came back down to earth. Martinsville was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 47-46 to Laneville. Martinsville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Laneville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Laneville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamorian Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Williams' sixth in a row with at least ten points. De'Marea Lewis was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Laneville, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-12.
Martinsville will be playing at home against Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laneville, they will head out on the road to face off against Slocum at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Slocum has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
