Central City extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Adams Central Patriots 56-27. The Bison's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Central City had a senior duo take command as Parker Zikmund threw for 360 yards and seven TDs while completing 79.3% of his passes and Jacob Brazee picked up 186 receiving yards and four scores. Those seven passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Zikmund. Central City also got a significant boost from Corbin Kyes, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Central City's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Damien Malachias, Luke McHargue, and Parker Santin, who each picked up one sack apiece.
As for Adams Central, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Central City is ranked fifth).
