The Kenston Bombers struggled with assists on Monday (the Rocky River Pirates had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kenston was the victim of a rough 60-35 loss at the hands of Rocky River. While losing is never fun, Kenston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while Rocky River is ranked 191st).
Despite the defeat, Kenston saw an underclassman step up: Aurora Young scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Ava Patti was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Rocky River. That makes it five consecutive games in which Patti has scored at least a third of Rocky River's points. Nora Bruder was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Kenston's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Rocky River, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Kenston will head out on the road to face off against Chardon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Kenston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday. As for Rocky River, they will be playing at home against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lakewood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
