There's no place like home for the Moore County Raiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on January 9th. They managed a 66-62 victory over Summertown on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given Moore County's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Summertown is ranked 125th).
When it comes to explaining why Summertown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kurt Burleson. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lleyton Sherman, who scored ten points.
Summertown struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Moore County's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Summertown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moore County will take on Whitwell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summertown, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Loretto at 7:30 p.m. Loretto has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 264 points over their last four contests.
