Interstate Athletic recap October 1, 2013
Devonte Williams of Bullis ran for the longest rushing play in Interstate Athletic this season against John Carroll last week. Williams scampered for 53 yards on the play and finished with 133 on the day as his team beat the Patriots.
St. Albans moved up to 215 from 243 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of besting Coolidge 35-0.
Bullis' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dwayne Haskins Jr. threw for 85 yards and Jeremy Epstein had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Williams chipped in 133 yards.
Williams was a passing and rushing force as Pat Cilento's team defeated John Carroll. Williams' key target this week was Epstein, who caught 4 passes for 70 yards.
Haskins Jr. put up the best numbers through the air as the Bulldogs bested Rich Stichel's team.
On the heels of Haskins Jr. and Williams, Bullis has had great success on offense. Haskins Jr. is tops in the league in passing with 336 yards, while Williams has rushed for 465 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is St. Albans' Matt Sniezek, with 206 yards on 17 catches.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Landon takes on Episcopal. The Bears are in fourth place, while the Maroon are in third place.
Atlantic Shores Christian added to the longest winning streak in Interstate Athletic this week by beating Hampton Christian, 69-6. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
