Word  went 8 for 12 en route to 23 points plus five  rebounds and four  steals, while  Toney  dropped  a double-double on 19 points and ten  rebounds. Toney has been hot , having also posted two or more  steals the last eight times she's  played.
 Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Russell County,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 2-0.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaw will challenge Russell County at 5:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Russell County, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Valley at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday.
