The Gateway Charter Griffins will head out to square off against the Cape Coral Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Gateway Charter was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lehigh 9-8.
Josue Pascual tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Kaleb Santos and Jack Anastasio did most of the damage at the plate: Santos scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Anastasio went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Santos has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Christopher Marrero, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cape Coral posted their closest victory since April 16, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Gateway 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Jonny Rabeiro looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Heisler, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Cape Coral: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Griffen Bumpus also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Gateway Charter's record now sits at 4-7. As for Cape Coral, their record now sits at 5-7.
