New Kent has gone 9-1 against Warhill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Lions at 4:30 p.m. New Kent will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Saturday, New Kent earned a 10-5 win over Jamestown.
Michael Hetzel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Warren, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
New Kent hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Warhill unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 9-1 to Grafton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 16th.
Warhill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
New Kent's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Warhill, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Warhill's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: New Kent hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. It's a different story for Warhill, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain New Kent's hitters?
New Kent took their victory against Warhill in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 9-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
