Pleasant Hill is 1-9 against Barry Western since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pleasant Hill Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Barry Western Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.
Pleasant Hill suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 last Tuesday. They were outmatched by Greenfield/Northwestern at home and fell 79-42. Pleasant Hill has not had much luck with Greenfield/Northwestern recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Meanwhile, Barry Western was beaten by Quincy Notre Dame 77-40 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Barry Western can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while Quincy Notre Dame is ranked 168th).
Despite their defeat, Barry Western saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mason Smith, who scored 20 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jedd Abney, who scored ten points.
Pleasant Hill has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Barry Western, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17.
Pleasant Hill lost to Barry Western on the road by a decisive 66-47 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Pleasant Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
