Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Gregory School Hawks walked away with it. They blew past the Vikings 51-29. Winning may never get old, but The Gregory School sure is getting used to it with their 16th in a row.
The Gregory School's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devin Dawson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Dickinson, who scored nine points.
When it comes to explaining why Williams lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is JP Echeverria. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
The Gregory School pushed their record up to 25-3 with that win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Williams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-12.
The Gregory School will be playing at home against Joseph City at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Joseph City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while The Gregory School is ranked 85th). Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
