The Pana Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 48-29 fall against Carlinville. While losing is never fun, Pana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Carlinville is ranked 149th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilly Rochkes, who scored five points. Delaney Hackler was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Pana has been struggling recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. As for Carlinville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
Pana will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sullivan at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Carlinville, they will take on Bunker Hill at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Bunker Hill is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
