The Woodward Bulldogs were the 59-50 winner over the Withrow Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Woodward was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to Withrow. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Woodward has scored all season.
Michael Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds for Withrow. That's the first time this season that Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Jordan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Woodward has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Withrow, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodward will face off against Taft at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Withrow, they will head out on the road to square off against Western Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
