The Southwood Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Peru Tigers at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Southwood lost to Wabash on the road by a decisive 59-41 margin.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Griffin Chambers, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Wilcox, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Peru struggled with assists on Friday (Kokomo had 1000% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Peru was beaten by Kokomo 72-45.
Despite their defeat, Peru saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Matthew Roettger, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Roettger scored a full 33.3% of Peru's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ian Potts was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Their wins bumped Southwood to 1-1 and Wabash to 2-1.
Southwood came up short against Peru in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 69-64. Can Southwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
