The Central Blue Devils had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured a 60-55 W over West Essex. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Faith Fedd-Robinson had a dynamite game for Central, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahniyah Simpson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Central's win was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for West Essex, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Central will take on Lake Minneola in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Lake Minneola will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. West Essex will be home for the holidays to greet Nutley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
