Kylee Lance made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Newton Falls got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Lance, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Lance a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Davis, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Newton Falls hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Memorial waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Knights 12-2.
Like Newton Falls, Memorial also got a great game from a two-way player: Ramani Adams. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Adams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Memorial let Melianys Colon-Rodriguez and Gianna Tovarnak run wild. Colon-Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Tovarnak went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Newton Falls' victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.
Newton Falls beat Memorial 14-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
