The New Prairie Cougars entered their tilt with the Bremen Lions with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. New Prairie secured a 66-61 W over Bremen on Wednesday. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while Bremen is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Prairie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Flagg, who scored 20 points along with six assists. Flagg continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jolie Johns was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with five assists and four steals.
Despite the loss, Bremen still got an impressive performance from Kila Foster, who scored 22 points along with six steals. That was a full 36.1% of Bremen's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Kincaid, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
New Prairie's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Bremen, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-11.
New Prairie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against LaVille at 8:00 p.m. on January 18th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Brooke Edison and Flagg. Bremen won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Culver Community at 8:00 p.m. on January 18th.
