Anthony Kusky made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Kusky was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Jamin Castillo was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Nolan Villalobos also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Brevard HEAT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .541 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Astronaut. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Ethan Nunes was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Thatcher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Brevard HEAT's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-7.
Brevard HEAT suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in their previous matchup back in February. Can Brevard HEAT avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
