On Saturday, Eastside came up short against Raines and fell 53-46. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Raines is ranked 72nd).
Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Kelvin Baker, who scored 17 points. The contest was Baker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dante Bray, who scored four points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Eastside were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Raines, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastside will challenge North Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Marion is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Raines and Fernandina Beach will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
