Chisago Lakes Baptist will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Region Christian Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Region Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chisago Lakes Baptist, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Chisago Lakes Baptist sidestepped St. Francis Christian for a 31-28 victory.
Chisago Lakes Baptist relied on the efforts of Becca Cave, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Mariah Cave, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and six steals. The matchup was Cave's third in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Lake Region Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 56-23 loss at the hands of Fourth Baptist Christian. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ava Erickson, who scored eight points along with three steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katrina Grotzke, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Chisago Lakes Baptist now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lake Region Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Chisago Lakes Baptist have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lake Region Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 31 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chisago Lakes Baptist strolled past Lake Region Christian in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 48-29. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lake Region Christian's Nikole Thorson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Chisago Lakes Baptist to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
