Football Recap: Vasquez Piles Up the Points Against Nuview Bridge + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Vasquez, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Nuview Bridge Knights 50-6 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four matchups by 25 points or more so far this season.

Zack Van Ornum was his usual excellent self, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 59 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (97.4). Blake Mascon was another key player, rushing for 112 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Vasquez proved: they limited Nuview Bridge to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. While four picked up at least six total tackles, Leonardo Rivas stood above the rest. He picked up three sacks and made six total tackles. Vasquez didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.8.

Vasquez's defense didn't let Carlos Candelario, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Rivas with three. Rivas is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Vasquez pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Nuview Bridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Vasquez has already played their next game, a 64-14 win against Desert Chapel on the 24th. As for Nuview Bridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 55-30 defeat against San Jacinto Valley Academy on the 23rd.
