The Winston Red Birds were the 69-32 winner over the Hardin-Central Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. Winston took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hardin-Central. Winston just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Hardin-Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kameron Pugh led the charge by scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Pugh is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hawkins, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Winston dropped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hardin-Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winston will take on Mercer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hardin-Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Higbee at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Higbee will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
