Lewis-Palmer is 9-1 against the Bears since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lewis-Palmer Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Palmer Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. Lewis-Palmer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Lewis-Palmer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cheyenne Mountain 86-41 at home. Given Lewis-Palmer's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Red-Tailed Hawks are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Noah Johnson was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Lowe, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 71-60 to Lutheran. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Palmer Ridge might have lost, but man, Jimmer Weir was a machine: he scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jon Rice (#3), who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Lewis-Palmer has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Palmer Ridge, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lewis-Palmer have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Palmer Ridge struggles in that department as they've made 39.5% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lewis-Palmer was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bears when the teams last played back in January, winning 65-58. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Weir, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lewis-Palmer still be able to contain Weir? There's only one way to find out.
