It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Holmes County Central Jaguars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Corinth by a score of 34-21. The victory was just business as usual for Holmes County Central, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Holmes County Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrison Davis, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 128 yards and a touchdown. Jartavious Smart was another key contributor, rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Holmes County Central pushed their record up to 12-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points per game. As for Corinth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Holmes County Central will look to defend their home field on Friday against West Point at 7:00 p.m. West Point knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Holmes County Central likes a good challenge. Corinth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
