West Point-Beemer has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Douglas County West Falcon at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, West Point-Beemer came up short against Clarkson/Leigh and fell 53-43.
West Point-Beemer's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Allie Kaup, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Mia Hunke who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Hunke continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Weborg, who scored ten points.
Even though they lost, West Point-Beemer were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Douglas County West pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Raymond Central. Douglas County West has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Point-Beemer's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Douglas County West, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
West Point-Beemer didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Douglas County West in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 60-54 victory. Will West Point-Beemer repeat their success, or does Douglas County West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
