El Rancho hasn't had much luck against California recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Dons will face off against the Condors at 3:15 p.m. El Rancho is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, El Rancho came up short against La Serna and fell 8-3.
Noelie Guerrero made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lesly Valdez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, California got the win against Santa Fe on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Condors, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Alexis Salas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mia Martinez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Salido, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
California pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for El Rancho, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. El Rancho hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like California struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
El Rancho came up short against California in their previous meeting back in March, falling 7-3. Can the Dons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
