The Jones Eagles and the Urban Prep-Bronzeville Lions squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the Jones Eagles had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 54-51. Jones' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Urban Prep-Bronzeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Gardner, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Melvin Moore, who scored 13 points.
Jones' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-12. As for Urban Prep-Bronzeville, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Jones will take on the Cyclones at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Agricultural Science is ranked 297th, while the Eagles are ranked 319th). Urban Prep-Bronzeville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
