Ben Bridich made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kieran Delaney was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Charlie Rakowski was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Colorado Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Basalt lost 10-2 to Coal Ridge on Saturday. The Longhorns haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Elias Schendler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Colorado Academy pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Basalt, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colorado Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Basalt struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colorado Academy took their win against Basalt in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-4 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
