Softball Recap: Grayslake North Sets Scoring Season-High Against Round Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grayslake North). They never let the Round Lake Panthers get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Thursday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by nine runs or more this season.

Grayslake North let Brena Dalton and Jane Pritchard run wild. Dalton went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Pritchard went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Pritchard a new career-high. Lauren Gaeding was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Grayslake North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Grayslake North's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Round Lake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grayslake North will head out to square off against Lake Forest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Round Lake, they will venture away from home to challenge Wauconda at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
