The Waverly Wolverines had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They came out on top against Chenango Forks by a score of 30-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Waverly was the (much) better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Joey Tomasso, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 125 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Jay Pipher also helped out with an impressive 90 receiving yards.
Waverly's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Chenango Forks, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Waverly will take on Adirondack at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Adirondack will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Chenango Forks does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
