The Opp Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pike County. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Opp of the 59-37 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
Opp lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reed Adams, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorian Harris, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Kam Christian continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pike County, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Christian hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Markelis Hobdy, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Opp's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-17. As for Pike County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Opp will take on New Brockton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Brockton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Pike County, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
