Park Place Christian Academy is 0-3 against Lamar since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Both teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Park Place Christian Academy has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since October 24.
Park Place Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Wayne Academy 50-20.
Meanwhile, Lamar came up short against East Rankin Academy on Friday and fell 46-39. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while East Rankin Academy is ranked 14th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sarah Dudley Reed, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Aryah Grace was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 15 rebounds and four steals.
Park Place Christian Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.4 points per game. As for Lamar, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-12.
Things could have been worse for Park Place Christian Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-25 loss to Lamar in their previous meeting on January 5th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lamar's Blake Hart, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Now that Park Place Christian Academy knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
