The Mount Dora Hurricanes will venture away from home to face off against the Belleview Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Monday, Mount Dora came up short against Hagerty and fell 7-2. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mount Dora saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was RAYA VEDDER, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Belleview had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. Everything went their way against the Rams as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rattlers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ya'Mari Reynolds looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Belleview let Randi O'Cull and Ally Axe run wild. O'Cull went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple, while Axe went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Axe has posted since back in March. Kiera Evans also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Belleview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Interlachen only managed four hits.
Belleview's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mount Dora, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Dora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Belleview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Dora skirted past Belleview 4-3 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hurricanes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
