The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cherry Creek, who took down sixth ranked Cherokee Trail, 21-14. Tahj Willingham ran for 156 yards and caught two passes for 22 yards in the win.
The Bruins extended the longest winning streak in 5A Centennial this week by beating the Cougars, 21-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the Cherry Creek.
Hayden Porter made the biggest impact on defense this week as Grandview defeated Overland. The 5-foot-8 junior racked up 2.0 sacks.
Hoffman, Greyson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 162 yards on 25 carries as Eaglecrest topped Smoky Hill. Teammate Davis, Dontae added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Trent Clay put up the best numbers through the air as the Buffaloes lost to the Raptors. He finished with a total of 11 completions for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Clay's favorite target this week was Michael Schonebaum, who caught four passes for 45 yards.
Watkins, Sean was the best wideout in the league this week as Eaglecrest bested Smoky Hill. Watkins, Sean tallied six receptions for 89 yards. Davis, Dontae helped Eaglecrest's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
The Wolves' Reece Weber and Tanner Gentry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Centennial in both passing and receiving yards. Weber has thrown for 990 yards this season, while Gentry, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 31 catches for 674 yards. Willingham from Dave Logan's team leads the league in rushing with 918 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Grandview and Cherokee Trail. John Schultz's team enters the game ranked 10th in the state, while Monte Thelen's team ranks seventh.
The Bruins' Willingham is a mere 82 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
The Wolves were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Grandview vanquished the Trailblazers 36-3 earlier in the week.
