Softball Recap: Villa Grove Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Villa Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against the Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] Titans on Monday as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Villa Grove let Cameron McGaughey and Madison Hinds run wild. McGaughey got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Hinds went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases McGaughey has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Dodd, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Villa Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

The victory snapped Villa Grove's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-8 record. As for Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland], they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Villa Grove will square off against Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
