Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) extended its winning streak to 11 games with a 65-12 victory over Northeast (St. Petersburg, Fla.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Cord Sandberg touchdown pass to
Trevon Walters in the first quarter, the Hurricanes led 42-12 at the half.
Manatee expanded its lead to 53 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored four times in the third, including once on a
Josh Meyer touchdown pass to
Brodrick Yancy.
The the Hurricanes raced to 28 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.
Sandberg was the top performer for the Hurricanes. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. A member of the Top Pro-Style Quarterbacks, Sandberg has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Donterio Fowler made a difference for the Vikings. The junior running back caught one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Led by
Derrick Calloway, Manatee went into the matchup giving up only 12.2 points per game. Northeast's 12 points were well below its season average of 23.9 per game.
